Bloodberry. (Varronia bullata subsp. humilis)

Description:  Perennial  shrub with round bushy form, to 4-5 ft and white flower clusters, and red berries. Moderately attractive. 

Natural Habitat:  Coastal areas and inland along hammock margins.

Planting and Care:  Full sun or partial shade. Rapid growth, needs space or it will overtake smaller neighbors.  Average moisture, fair drought tolerance.

Pros:  Flowers attract numerous butterfly species and other pollinators.  

Cons:   Can become aggressive, requiring trimming more often than most bushy shrubs.
