Natural Habitat: Wetlands and moist soil, often near swamp and pond edges. Tolerates standing water, but does well on land as long as soil is moist.

Pros: Flowers are unique, and attract numerous butterflies and other pollinators. Easy to grow as long as soil is kept moist. Useful along fences and as backdrop to native gardens or water features.
Cons: A large shrub, needs space or trimming. Not drought-tolerant.
