Crenulate Leadplant (Amorpha herbacea var. crenulata)

Description:  Perennial shrub to 3+ feet, with spikes of attractive white and purple flowers. Endemic to Miami-Dade County, where it now occurs naturally only in a few parks. 

Natural Habitat:  Pinelands, marl prairies and edges of rock hammocks.

Planting and Care: Flowers best in full sunlight, often dies back to ground level and then resprouts.  Drought tolerant after establishment.

Pros:  A handsome medium-sized shrub

Cons:  Not much.
