Doctorbush (Plumbago zeylanica)

Description:  Perennial with spreading or vinelike stems tipped with white flowers.  Frequented by butterflies, bees, and other insects.

Natural Habitat:  Hammocks edges and interiors. 

Planting and Care:   Once established, tolerates dry conditions and shade.

Pros:  Larval host for Cassius blue; attracts other butterflies, moths, and bees.  Attractive flowers.  Does well in shady conditions.

Cons:  May die back.

Note:  As ranges of butterflies can fluctuate over time,  planting host plant(s) may not automatically result in bringing a desired species to a given area.
