Description: Perennial wildflower to 1+ ft , often spreading wider than tall, with almost continuous clusters of pastel to bright blue rayless aster flowers. Flowers resemble Blue Mistflower, but leaves are glossy and semi-succulent.
Natural Habitat: Coastal areas and hammock edges; occurs naturally south of Key Largo; Listed as "endangered" by the State of Florida.
Planting and Care: Flowers in full sun and some shade. Does well in poor soil. Drought tolerant after establishment.
Pros: Attractive blue flowers year-round, and frequented by butterflies. An excellent plant for a wildflower garden. Flowers even in shady areas. Drought and salt spray tolerant. Requires no special care. Ideal for coastal areas.
Cons: May grow wide by sprawling and rooting at stem nodes.
