Pale Passionflower (Passiflora pallens)

Description: Perennial vine with trilobed leaves, blooming year-round with 2"-wide white-green flowers, followed by 2"-wide yellow fruit. 

Natural Habitat:   Moist hammock and pineland edges of southern peninsular Florida.

Planting and Care:   Requires moist soil, not drought-tolerant, does well in boggy conditions. Flowers best with abundant sun.  

Pros:  Attractive flowers and fruit. Does not appear to attract our native longwing butterflies like the more common Corky-Stemmed Passionflower.  Does well in a garden with moisture. Good for a wet hammock edge.

Cons:  Not tolerant of prolonged drought.
