Sky-Blue Morning Glory (Jacquemontia pentanthos)
Description: A perennial vine, twining onto fences or shrubs, or spreading over ground vegetation. Clusters of 3/4” wide light blue flowers with white throats occur throughout the year.
Natural Habitat: Hammock edges and prairies in Everglades National Park.
Planting and Care: Soil should have some organic content and be fairly moist. Best next to a fence, trellis, or small tree or shrub, to provide support. Flowers best in abundant sunlight.
Pros: Beautiful flowers. Climbs into shrubs and small trees without smothering their foliage. Nectar source for several sphinx moths.
Cons: Needs at least partial sun for best appearance.
