Description: an inconspicuous and unobtrusive perennial herbaceous plant to 18 inches with pretty but small lavender-purple flowers. Unlike most Desmodiums (beggar-ticks) these are upright, not sprawling.
Natural Habitat: Ranges through Eastern North America, but in Miami-Dade, it is the beggar-ticks of the Pine Rocklands.
Planting and Care: Nothing special, does best in full sunlight, recruits well but never becomes a pest. It is drought tolerant after establishment.
Pros: This is a well-behaved plant ideal for a wild flower garden or restoration, best planted among grasses and other wildflowers. Interesting (but small) two-toned purple-lavender flowers.
Cons: Not a spectacular plant. Do not expect oohs and ahhs.
