St Andrew's Cross. (Hypericum hypericoides)
Description: A perennial shrub to 3 feet, flowering most of the year with yellow 4-petalled 1/2” wide flowers.
Natural Habitat: Found mostly in moist pinelands and open forests. Found in South Miami-Dade, more common northwards.
Planting and Care: Water abundantly to establish, afterwards it requires no additional watering though prefers moist conditions. Flowers best with full sun. Does well in limestone or sand once established.
Pros: Though flowers are not individually spectacular, it is attractive with flowering most of the year and attracts pollinator bees and butterflies.
Cons: Not much.
