Whitemouth Dayflower. (Commelina erecta)

Description:  Perennial herb to 1' tall, with thin fleshy branches tending to sprawl and root at nodes. Blue translucent morning flowers. Moderately attractive. 

Natural Habitat:  Pinelands, mixed woods, flower and grass meadows.

Planting and Care:  Does best in full sunlight, can be suppressed by bigger plants.  Does well in moist soil but drought tolerant after establishment.

Pros: Has handsome flowers, goes well in mixed grass/wildflower planting. Not aggressive.  

Cons:   Flowers handsome but not spectacular, tend to wilt by late morning.
