Wild Basil (Ocimum campechianum)

Description: A fast-growing perennial herb of the mint family, to ~ 2 feet, with small attractive flowers. Tolerates dry conditions once established, but may die in extended periods of drought.

Natural Habitat:   Rare in the pine rocklands and hammock edges.

Planting and Care:   Water daily for 2-3 weeks. will re-seed if soil is free of thick duff.

Pros:  Attractive foliage and flowers. Supports butterflies and other pollinators. Does well with normal moisture. Will not overwhelm neighboring plants.

Cons:  Not much
